PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT APPLICATION

The City of Caldwell, Kanas will hold a public hearing on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 6:30 pm in the CSS Auditorium located at 31 N. Osage, Caldwell, Kansas for the purpose of considering an application to be submitted to the Kansas Department of Commerce for Small Cities Community Development Block Grant funds under the Community Facility category for a proposed Child Care Facility located 102 N.Osage, Caldwell, Kansas. The School District will be also applying for USDA Child Care funding.

A specific application to be discussed will be the Caldwell Child Care Center consisting of the following items: 1 Mobilization including installation and miscellaneous costs, 1 LS pre-manufactured KDHE approved building complete with utilities, 5,000 SF concrete pad/footings for the pre-manufactured building including connection to utilities, 1 LS ADA parking and connecting sidewalks, 1 LS playground area including site improvements, complete, and 200 LF fencing for the playground area. The estimated project cost is $1,221,974.00 with a grant request for $600,000 of the project cost. Other project proposals introduced at the hearing will be considered. Oral and written comments will be recorded and become a part of Caldwell’s CDBG Citizen Participation Plan. Reasonable accommodation will be made available to persons with disabilities. The request should be submitted to Leah Sommerhoff, City Administrator, or Kristin Sandoval, City Clerk by March 20, 2023.
